The matter had suddenly become urgent it seemed. She didn't know what it was, but she could sense it. Something was approaching, and she couldn't tell if it was good or bad, but this measure was in case it was bad. Dragon led her Fiero, Vera, to another part of the training ground in a brisk walk. She taught her the most important trick, Accept Contact, and now she needed to start training her for battle. Vera was the only adult she had, which made this very important. As soon as she came to a good spot, where there were all sorts of bite-able things available, Dragon stopped. This was where they were going to train now, for the more serious items. Vera tilted her head at her alpha. Her alpha seemed on edge, and she had no real idea why. Then there was the new spot that her alpha had picked out, which seemed much more different than the one they had just came from. (Word Count: 166) (Level 6 3/5)

Dragon looked around the training area, walking around, examining the objects that were laying around the area. She had brought some of her own along as well, since she knew that they were going to be training for attacks eventually. She did not anticipate having to train them to Vera this soon though. Heck, she didn't know if Vera liked battle training or not, or any type of violence for that matter. She guessed that would have to be discovered through training.
Dragon now picked up a fairly thick, but not quite so long, branch that seemed to have come from the tree that was in the area as well. She looked at Vera now, who was tilting her head in confusion. Dragon held out the branch to Vera. "Vera, I would like you to nibble on this branch," she said. Even though it sounded awkward to utter such a request, in need to be said for what Dragon needed to train.

Vera's confusion grew even more at her alpha's request. Nibble on a branch? But...branches don't even taste good! Why was her alpha wanting her to nibble on something that never tasted good in the first place? Then again, perhaps this was just a continuation of that training stuff that they were doing earlier, so maybe she would get something for it.
Vera carefully sniffed the branch before beginning to nibble it. Her teeth made cuts in the bark, revealing the fiber interior. Then she stopped, looking at the cuts she made in the branch.
Dragon turned the branch over and examined what Vera had down, while Vera licked her gums with a more fleshy part of her tongue, as if to check for splinters. "Not bad for a first try," Dragon said finally, taking a piece of meat out of her pocket and giving it to Vera, who gulped down.

Dragon held out the branch to Vera again, this time with a not so nibbled area in front of her. Again. She would like her to do this again. But for what though? What were little tiny nibbles going to do? Vera did not know, and she grunted, before beginning to nibble on the branch again, this time a little harder. The wounds on the branch came out deeper than previous, and this seemed to satisfy Dragon.
"Good, good," Dragon said with a smile as she examined the branch. "You obviously understand how to nibble on command, but this is only the beginning." She looked up at Vera, as Vera looked back at her, still in confusion. "You need to be able to do this to moving targets. It may not do much damage, but it's going to be the start of what I'm going to finally teach you in the end."
Vera still didn't understand what her alpha was really talking about, but she did understand the gist of it. Basically, keep nibbling, especially on moving targets, and then they'd move onto something else.

Dragon looked around now. The only two animated objects were her and Vera. There didn't seem to be anyone else in sight. How were they going to practice with moving targets? She couldn't have Vera nibble on her. For one thing, Vera would very likely be unwilling to even attempt it. For another, Vera could probably injure Dragon too much to do anything, even if it was just a few nibbles.
Dragon looked at the branch in her paw and pondered at it. Perhaps if she waved it around, with her paw close to the bottom of the branch, perhaps she can get Vera to nibble that while it's moving. She should likely try different speeds, and different patterns too.
Dragon held up the branch now and began to wave it around, slowly, in front of Vera's face. Vera followed it with movements of her head. Then her mouth began to open slightly, and she snapped at the branch, grabbing onto it and beginning to nibble on it. Dragon grinned. Yes, that was exactly what she was going for.
Vera eventually let go, looking at Dragon expectantly now, as she lowered her paw holding the branch down. Dragon gave her a piece of meat. "Excellent work," she said with a smile.

After resting her arm for a few minutes, Dragon once again began waving the branch around, this time much faster than earlier. The same result happened, although it took longer for Vera to fully respond. She watched the branch, and then eventually snapped at it and grabbed onto it again, nibbling on it once again. Her response was only slow because of how quick it was, but she managed to get it, and that's all Dragon wanted from her right now.
Dragon gave Vera another piece of meat for her efforts, and after once again resting her arm, began waving it around again, this time even faster, and now in in a much different pattern than the simple waving about right to left. Now it was in random movements. Zig zags, up and down, side to side, diagonal, and circles even.
This sudden change confused Vera, but only for a short bit. What her alpha was doing was simply a puzzle, a puzzle that needed to be solved. She watched the random movements carefully, trying to figure out the pattern to Dragon's movements. Then she snapped at the branch, once again latching onto it and then nibbling it vigorously.

"Excellent, excellent!" Dragon said with a grin as Vera let go again. Dragon couldn't help but not only feel proud of Vera, but also herself. This was the first attack that she had ever successfully taught to one of her Fieros, and not only that, it was also the first thing that she had fully taught by herself. Not with anyone's help, but herself. That was definitely something to be proud of.
Dragon gave Vera yet another piece of meat. "One final thing before we wrap this up though..." she said now. "I know I can ask you to nibble something and you'll nibble it. But can you nibble a moving target on my command?"
Dragon once again began to wave the branch in the air. "Nibble!" she said now in a commanding voice, and Vera surprisingly obeyed. She latched onto the branch and began nibbling it. As soon as she let go, Dragon waved the branch around again, faster, again calling out, "Nibble!"
Vera obeyed again, and swiftly took the branch in her jaws and lightly chewed on it. She let go again, and finally Dragon waved it around in the random pattern. "Nibble!"
Once again, Vera latched on, more swiftly than Dragon was prepared for. Vera accidentally snatched the branch out of Dragon's paw, but she still nibbled. Then she dropped it, looking at Dragon again. She wagged her tail.
Dragon laughed. "You have done a splendid job, Vera," she said now, patting the Fiero on the neck gently. Vera trilled her tongue in pleasure. "I think we are done with this now, so let's take a break before moving on to something slightly harder."

Resting under the nearby tree, that was good for regenerating and conserving energy for what was to come next. Vera may not be the strongest Fiero ever --that honor resides with Sweetheart--, but she was definitely now the strongest Fiero to know how to attack something on command. She knows no one else who has completed such a task with their own Fieros, so it must be true. That was definitely something to be proud of.
Dragon got up now and walked over to where she had gotten the branch that they used for nibble, and picked up a similarly sized branch. This was to be used for a new attack command. Dragon turned to look at Vera, who yawned and looked up at her alpha. "Do you know what 'nipping' is?" she asked.
Vera seemed to ponder this for a moment, before she shook her head. "Alright, and that's okay, because that just gives me the entire rest of the post to explain it to you," (*breaks the fourth wall XD*) she said with a grin. "Nipping is a light and quick bite that does more damage than nibble, but not quite as much damage as a full out bite. Nipping is the next step up to biting though, and that's why I am going to train it to you. Understand?"
Dragon held the new branch up to Vera. "Do you think you could nip this for me?"

Vera tilted her head at the branch that Dragon held out to her. Just a quick and light bite, she said? Sounded simple enough. Vera swift bit the tip of the branch and then just as swiftly let go. Dragon examined the tip of the branch now, which had been cut by Vera's incisor teeth. There wasn't a whole lot of damage to the bark as there was with nibbling on it, but that was likely because nibbling involved chewing, and chewing tended to do more than on little nip.
Still, Dragon seemed satisfied with the result, and gave Vera a piece of meat as another reward. "Excellent first try, Vera," she said with a smile. "It may not look like much on a branch, but I bet it'll do some more damage to something that actually has flesh."
Dragon held out the branch to Vera again. "Nip it again," she said now.

Vera nipped the branch again, snapping her teeth quickly in and out. Like last time, the nip did little to the branch. Vera grunted. The bark of the branch was keeping her from making any real wound in the branch, unlike with nibble, where her chewing did some real work on the branch.
Dragon once again examined the branch, but still seemed satisfied, despite how Vera was unable to efficiently cut through the bark. "Excellent again, Vera," she said with a smile, before she gave Vera another piece of meat.
"Like we did with nibble, I'm going to be waving this stick around, slow at first, then faster, and then in a more random pattern, okay?" Dragons said now. Then, like they had done with nibble, as she had said, she began to wave the branch in the air in front of Vera.
What happened was similar, but different than what had occurred during Vera's training with nibble.

Instead of grabbing a hold of the branch like she had with nibble, Vera was much more careful and calculative with her nipping of this branch. She was slower to make a move, but her movements were much sharper and quicker than with nibble.
She nipped at the branch, sometimes hitting the target dead on, but sometimes missing as well, which would almost get her hit in the face. She needed to be more careful, more calculating, with nipping. Nipping were light and quick bites, not light chews or strong bone crunchers that were easier to land.
She eventually started hitting her target better, until she was either no longer missing her mark, or she only occasionally missed her mark.
Dragon stopped waving the branch now. "That was good, especially how you learned so quickly to be calculating with your hits," she said as she handed Vera yet another piece of meat for her trouble. "Let's hope you are up to the task of the higher strung obstacles. They'll require much more careful planning."

After resting for some time because Vera was starting to breathe a bit too heavily for Dragon's liking, Dragon began moving the branch again, and like she had done when she was teaching nibble, her movements were faster than the previous. Vera was having a harder time striking the branch this time.
Her alpha was right; this was much more difficult than the first, and would require more planning. She eventually snapped at the branch, landing a successful nip on her first try. She tried again, and landed it again. Her third attempt almost had her smacked in the face with the branch, had she not quickly pulled away. The fourth attempt was much more successful.
Dragon stopped waving the branch now. "You're getting the hang of this," she said with a smile and giving Vera another meaty reward. "But I shall warn you with the next one. You may not be as lucky with your hits, but I still encourage you to carefully plan them none the less."

Vera grunted. Who ever knew that training for a simple move was this difficult? She knew from instinct how to nip, so why was it trained? As a command, most likely, she mused. There was no other reason for such training, except for her to understand how to do it on command. But the reward was at least satisfying, for if she did well, she would have as much of that delicious meat as her alpha could provide. Not only that, but her alpha did seem conscious of her breathing problems, so she wasn't doing this to be mean or anything. She just wished she could ask why they were doing this, what the significance was.
The hardest part of the nipping was here now. Dragon had begun to wave the branch once again, this time in the random patterns that she had used with nibble. This was nipping though, not nibbling, so careful calculations must be done to ensure success.
It took awhile for Vera to start trying at nipping. Many of her nips didn't land, but some did. It was only until her nips started to outweigh her misses that Dragon stopped the waving. It was clear to her that nipping was a difficult task for Vera, but definitely not something she couldn't do if asked.
Now it was time for the test though: to see if Vera can preform this all on her command.

Dragon gave Vera another piece of meat and allowed her to rest for awhile. Nipping was definitely taking more energy out of her than nibbling had done, and she hoped that that wouldn't be the case with biting later on.
When she was done resting, Vera stood up, ready for the test. She already knew what this test was before Dragon said anything about it, so she figured that she must pace herself with this one to prevent herself from tiring out too quickly.
Dragon saw Vera's readiness and picked up the branch again. "You know already what comes after all that training, I see," she said now with a nod. "So, you must already know the drill." She raised the branch and began to wave it around slowly. "Nip it!"
There was no hesitation from Vera this time. She snapped her jaws at the branch, nipping it with approving accuracy.
"Good, good!" Dragon said, speeding up the waving of the branch now. "Nip it!"
There was hesitation, but there was less of it than there was during training, likely because she was feeling more confident about this. She was prepared. Vera nipped the sped up branch again, not missing the mark.
"Excellent!" Dragon shouted with enthusiasm, now beginning to wave the branch in the random patterns. "Nip it!"
More hesitation, but the hesitation payed well with an accurate hit as Vera nipped the branch again.
Dragon stopped waving the branch now. "Excellent work, Vera!" Dragon said, grinning. "You have done exceedingly well so far. This concludes training for this attack. Let us rest before we go on to the next level of fang attacks." She gave Vera another piece of meat as a reward, before the both of them went back to the tree to rest.

They rested under the tree, just the two of them, Vera and Dragon. Dragon was busy planning out Vera's next lesson, Bite, although how repetitive it was, there likely wasn't to be a whole lot of planning, but there may be explanation, and that was what she was preparing for.
Vera was enjoying her peaceful time with her alpha, content with just laying by her side. Her breath was calm and steady, showing her healthy and relaxed state, even though it sounded like she had a congested nose or something, if she had a nose to be congested, that was.
Eventually Dragon stood up and walked over to where she got each of her branches for Nibble and Nip. Now she was looking for not just a big branch, but a long and strong one, one that could handle the bite of a Fiero and not break under the pressure of the jawbone.
She found one that looked strong enough and picked it up. If it was strong enough, it would hopefully not break when Vera bites it. If it does, then she would have to find a new one.
Dragon turned to look at Vera again, who had her eyeless head up now, observing her movements. Then Vera stood up, because she knew that it was training time now. Once Vera had come up to meet her alpha, Dragon held out the branch, which was much longer than the others, long enough for her to hold in both paws.
"I would like for you to bite this branch, nice and hard," Dragon said now.
