Vera looked at Dragon, curious as to what they were training for. She knew it was another level up from scratch, since it was a stronger attack, but of course, what was the command going to be for it?
"What we are training now is called 'Claw'," Dragon explained. "Claw is the third step up in claw attacks, stronger than scratch, does more damage than scratch, but the movement is still the same." Dragon breathed out a sigh before sitting down again. "You know, I think I am just going to sit down here for a little bit. My legs are starting to kill me..."
Vera couldn't help but laugh. She knew it. Her alpha was going to have to sit down, eventually, especially with what that long walk did to her legs.
Dragon sighed again. "Okay, enough with your laughing, Vera..." she said, although she couldn't help but smile faintly. "Focus now, and use your weak paw to claw the post now."

It took awhile for Vera to settle down, but she eventually did. She needed to focus now on the task ahead. Nothing got done when you goof off all the time. Time to get serious again.
Vera took her weaker paw and took a slash at the scratching post. She put more effort into this than with her strong paw, because her weaker paw needed it. The result was deep claw marks, much like the ones with her strong paw, but just a little lighter.
Dragon examined these claw marks. "Excellent," she said. "That paw is definitely showing signs of improvement. Is it feeling less tired when you swing it?" She looked up at Vera as she asked this. Vera flexed her foreleg a little bit, shrugged, and nodded faintly. It was indeed starting to get easier to use, but it would still take more work for it to become as easy to use as her strong paw.

Dragon smiled faintly at the nod. "I'll take that as a yes," she said. "Once you're done stretching, I would like you to claw at the scratching post again, with the weaker paw at a faster speed. Okay?"
Vera nodded again as she put her foot down. After she felt that it was ready, she lifted it back up and, quicker than the first time, clawed the post. Strength was the only major sacrifice, but the sacrifice was not as great as it would have been a while ago. She made the marks, and they were almost as deep as the first ones she made with the move.
Dragon examined these newly made marks and made a nod of approval. "Need to work on strength with quickness, but it should do for now. It's something that can be practiced along the way, of course."
Now Dragon started walking away from the post, although slower than usual. She was still sort of recovering from the journey from and back to the Training Meadow, so it would likely be a bit longer before she would fully recover.

Vera flexed her foreleg out a little bit before putting it back down on the ground. Then she turned her head to see her alpha walking away from the scratching post. Vera followed her in a steady trot. She knew what it was time for. It was time to test her agility with the attack, and her ability to be able to do it on command.
After they were a few yards away, Dragon stopped, and then she promptly sat down, again. Vera came over and stood beside her. "You know by now what to do, Vera," Dragon said now, pointing to the scratching post from her position on the ground. "When I give the command, give it all you got, okay?"
Vera nodded, preparing herself for the command.
"Claw!"
And she was off in a flash, knowing almost on instinct on what to do. She began diverting from her original path at an angle, so that her strong paw will be used. Vera readied herself as she came came closer to the post, made a small leap, and quickly clawed at the post, digging her claws into it as she passed. She circled around and then ran back to Dragon.

As Vera approached Dragon again, her running slowed to a steady trot, which then slowed more to a walk as she came to stop beside her alpha. She sat down and looked down at her alpha, who looked back up at her with a smile. "Excellent job, Vera," she said, taking out a shred of meat and throwing it up to Vera, who caught it easily.
"You know what comes next right?" she asked now as Vera finished. Vera looked at her again and nodded. She stood up again and readied herself once more. "This time it's with the weaker paw, okay?" Dragon reminded her, and she responded with a short nod.
"Claw!"
Vera ran at the scratching post again, claws digging into the ground as she gained speed. This time she moved into the opposite angle so she could use her weaker paw. Like she had with her strong paw, she readied herself, made a small leap, and dug her claws into the post as quickly and powerfully as she could with her weak paw.
She circled around and came back to her alpha, who slowly stood up to meet her. "That was brilliant work, as always, Vera," Dragon said with a smile as Vera came close enough for her to stroke her neck fur.
"I believe we are done with Claw now," she said. "How about we both go rest at the tree? I know I could definitely use it..." Vera couldn't help but laugh as she and her alpha began walking back to the tree.

Dragon was grateful for the rest under the tree, more so than she had been before. Her legs and feet were still aching a bit, but it was starting to die down as they got the rest that they needed. She would definitely have to consider training Vera how to carry her around. It would more than likely prove useful for when she started developing sore feet from too much walking.
However, that would have to wait, because the final attack on the list needed to be trained before anything else was to be trained. Dragon slowly stood up now, feeling more ready for training than she had last time. Vera looked up and then stood up too.
Dragon began walking over to the scratching post, probably for the last time, or at least until some more ways to use it cropped up. Vera followed her. When Dragon was close enough to the scratching post, she stopped. Vera stopped too.
Dragon turned to face Vera. "Vera, I would like you to slash at the post, with more power in it than clawing it."

Vera looked at Dragon before looking at the post. Then she looked down at her strong paw, lifting it up to examine it closer. She looked back at the post. Then, with one, powerful blow, she slashed at the scratching post, tearing into it with her sharp, black claws. If the scratching post wasn't so dug into the ground as Dragon had it, Vera would have likely knocked it over with the blow.
Dragon nodded with approval. "And your skills continue to grow, my friend..." she said with a smile. "The attack that you just performed is called 'Slash'. It is the most powerful attack at the moment, dealing more damage to an opponent than a powerful bite would."
Dragon turned back to look at the post. "Slash at the post again with your weaker paw, okay?" she said now. "By now should likely be strong enough to be as good as your strong paw, if with a little more effort."

Vera nodded now, readying her weaker paw. Then she slashed at the scratching post with the paw, digging the three claws into it as they passed it. Her alpha was right. Even though there was a little more effort involved, her weaker paw was now making scratches similar to the ones made by her strong paw.
Dragon gave a nod of approval, along with a grin, as she examined the marks made. "Excellent work," she said. "The strength in that weaker leg of yours is definitely increasing, and soon it will be as strong as your other paw. Only time and more practice will tell how soon, so why don't you give it another whack? Slash at the post again, once more with your weaker paw. After you rest it a bit, of course."
Vera nodded as she stretched out her foreleg. She found that it didn't take as long for her leg to recover now, unlike before when they first started training for claw attacks.

Vera readied the claws on her weaker paw for an attack on the scratching post, flexing her three toes for a short moment. Then she struck, more quickly than before, with more added effort on strength. Her claws once again dug into the post, this time matching the ones made previously.
She did it. Finally she had managed to make her weaker paw almost as strong as her strong paw. It still took effort, but at least it wasn't as much anymore, and the marks were starting to match the ones made by her strong paw. Vera wagged her tail at this accomplishment.
Dragon once again examined the marks, and then nodded with approval and grinned. "Getting stronger and stronger with each swipe of a paw..." she said, more to herself, but also to Vera. "Excellent as always, Vera. We are almost done now."
With saying that, Dragon turned away and began walking away from the scratching post.

Vera watched her alpha walk away from the scratching post before she began following her in a steady trot. Her alpha had said this was the most powerful attack on the list currently. Did that mean that that was the last attack that her alpha could teach her right now? Perhaps it was...but would there be other attack in the future? She hoped so.
After she was a few yards away from the scratching post, Dragon stopped and turned around to face it. Vera came over and stopped by her side, waiting for instructions and the command. Dragon looked up at Vera and then back at the post.
"This is the fourth, and likely the final time, that you will be doing this," Dragon said now. "You know what to do, basically. On my command, give it your all."
Vera nodded before she faced the scratching post too, readying herself for the command.
"Slash!"
And like she had for all the other times, Vera took off running toward the scratching post, speed quickening with each bound. She angled off to one side so she could use her strong paw. She readied herself, made a small leap, and slashed at the scratching post, digging her claws deep into the post as she passed.
As she passed, she circled back and ran toward her alpha.

Vera's running slowed to trotting, and then it slowed even further to walking as she neared her alpha. Dragon greeted her with a grin and then also a pat on the neck. "Excellent job Vera," she said, still grinning.
"You know what to do for the next part, so I won't explain too much, except remind you to use your weaker paw," she said now, nodding. Vera nodded back as she prepared herself to strike at the scratching post again.
"Slash!"
Vera took off again, racing toward her target with speed that she did not have when she had first started doing such attacks. She really had come a long way, she thought to herself, before getting back on task.
As she neared the post, Vera veered off to the side so she was able to use her weaker paw. She prepared herself, made a small leap, and slashed with all her might at the post with this weaker paw, digging the claws into the post as she passed again. It still took effort, but the marks were the same as the ones made by her strong paw.

Vera turned around and ran back to her alpha, slowing down to a walk and then stopping in front of her. Dragon greeted her again with a grin, and then she gave her a hug, wrapping her arms around the black Fiero's neck. Vera trilled her tongue.
"You did wonderfully for that last attack," Dragon said now as she let go. "So, as a reward, I'm going to give you the last of the meat that I brought over." She then took out a nice, good sized hunk of meat from a storage cube that she had, and then she promptly gave it to Vera, who began chowing down on it eagerly the moment she sank her teeth into it. "Well done, once again..." Dragon said once more. "You have completed all that I have to teach you at this current point in time. Once there is more, we can return here, but for now, you are ready for battling."
Vera gave a small yip in between bites in response to what Dragon had said.

Vera gulped down the rest of the meat and licked her lips in satisfaction. Then she stood up and shook her pelt, getting rid of any grass blades that might have made their way into her fur. Then she came over to her alpha and sat down in front of her.
Dragon was sitting down now, having thoughts about what else should be taught. However, she also figured that enough was taught now, and that whatever she was going to teach, battle training or otherwise, could wait for however long it would take. It was so urgent that it couldn't wait.
Dragon looked up at Vera before she stood up. "You are probably wondering what comes next, huh?" she asked now. Vera gave a shrug, but she nodded. "Like I had said, we're done here, at least for now," she said. "Once we have enough rest from training, we can come back and learn new stuff, okay?"
Vera nodded again and stood up once more. Dragon began walking away from the training meadow, taking a few moments to reload the scratching post into its storage cube, and then left, Vera following behind her.

"Oh come on Vera, it won't be that bad..." Dragon said with a sigh as she and Vera made their way toward the Training Meadow. "Stop looking so mopey. It's hazardous to your health."
Vera gave a rather harsh huff to this. She loved her alpha dearly, but why was she so cheery about this? Had it been any day before those horrific events, she would have loved to, especially if they were battle techniques. Now though, she did not want to really deal with it, especially if it was battle training. Her alpha never really said what exactly it was that they were going to do; she just said that it was going to be different.
With due time, the duo arrived at their destination. Dragon put her things down as Vera stood by to watch.
"Okey dokey then," Dragon said with a smile. "Now on to what we are going to do." Dragon looked up at Vera now. "Stay."

If Vera had eyebrows on her face, she would be raising them in confusion at the command. She did not, though, so she did it with her lips instead. It almost looked like she was snarling, or giving a look of disgust, but Dragon knew from experience that it wasn't her intent to seem that way. She had a much, much different face for looks of disgust and displeasure.
What began to confuse Vera even more was the fact that her alpha had actually begun walking away from her after she had spoken the command, rather than walking toward her. What was she doing? Why was she doing that? It was certainly not like her alpha at all to walk away from her when she was teaching something to her. Vera tilted her head before she began walking toward her alpha as she was walking away.
