"Okay, now stay..." Dragon said before once again she turned her back to the black Fiero and began walking away. Vera tilted her head once more at her alpha, becoming even more confused than ever. What was she doing? What did she have in mind? She knew she did something right, but she had no idea what that was.
"Now come, Vera," Dragon said, not looking back at Vera but stopping for the moment. Vera sighed a little and came over to her, but before she could fully close the gap between them, her alpha uttered something else. "Now follow me," Dragon said before she continued walking. Vera's ears pricked up a bit as she now began following her alpha from behind. Was this the command that she had been waiting for her alpha to utter? It must be, considering that she was doing the exact same thing she had the first time, only this time there was a word attached to it.

Dragon grinned faintly as she glanced over her shoulder to see Vera walking behind her. Good, good, that was excellent. The connection between the action and the word has been made, or so it seemed. Fieros could be strange beasts in those kinds of aspects, but Vera has always shown her capabilities of learning and remembering commands quickly, like she would expect from any animal capable of understanding human speech from the get go.
After they had been walking around for a little bit, with Dragon leading and Vera following, Dragon paused for a moment to turn back to Vera, who stopped right in front of her and tilted her head at her. Dragon grinned faintly before taking out a larger scrap of meat and giving it to her. "Excellent work, Vera," she said now as Vera licked up the scrap of meat from her paw and swallowed it.

Without any more words after that, Dragon began walking away again without uttering any of the previous commands as they had done before, neither stay nor come. Vera tilted her head at this break in pattern, but she found that she did not have to make her confused expression known, since it had already been resolved.
"Follow, Vera," was what her alpha had uttered that solved Vera's initial confusion. As the command came to her ears, Vera began following behind her alpha at a comfortable distance, neither too far away from her alpha or so close she'd run the risk of accidentally tripping over her alpha, and that would not be a good thing.
Dragon continued walking with Vera either directly behind her or slightly off to the side, but still behind. Every once in awhile, she would glance back at the Fiero just to make sure she was still following.

Seconds turned to minutes, and minutes began turning into hours, as Dragon and Vera continued their little walk around their little section of the Training Meadow, with Dragon still leading, and Vera still following. Sometimes they would do circles, sometimes squares or rectangles, sometimes triangles, and there were even a few times where they were doing figure eights and infinity symbols, sometimes many other symbols too.
Vera yawned, tongue stretching out to its full length and then relaxing again. She was not tired, but she was definitely starting to get bored of all the walking and following. She was even surprised that her own alpha was keeping up with this for so long, since her own legs usually start getting really tired after just a little while of walking, and this was a lot longer than a little while. Vera's head moved as her heat sensor trying to find something else to focus on.

Suddenly a little splotch of heat came into her radar, fluttering around just a little ways away. Vera's ears pricked up, focused intently on that little splotch. She still kept following her alpha, but her heat sensor was on the little splotch, and not her alpha anymore. Eventually, Vera stopped following altogether, and instead she was trotting away from her alpha and towards the little blotch.
Dragon took this moment to look over her shoulder to make sure Vera was still following, and to her dismay, she was no longer doing so, but it did not take her long to find the black, Clydesdale sized Fiero again. Dragon sighed now before forcing her legs to start moving toward Vera. So close... She had been so close to following up to her limit, and hopefully beyond that, but it looks like Vera had decided to have other plans instead.

Vera was no longer paying attention to her alpha. Her tail was wagging, and it was clear to Dragon that there was something flying in the air that was distracting her, probably either a bird or a butterfly. Either way, it was making her get up on her hind legs to try and lunge at it. And, even though it was definitely not what she wanted, it made Dragon smile a little bit at seeing Vera like this, especially after so long.
Unfortunately for Vera, her fun didn't last quite as long as she had wanted it too, since the little bird that she was messing with quickly climbed to a height that she was unable to catch it at, even if she managed to lift herself up enough in a jump. She thumped back down on her front paws with a sigh before she turned her head to see her alpha with her arms crossed.

Vera's ears immediately flattened as she bowed her head to her alpha, whining hoarsely with her tail tucked between her legs. She knew exactly what she had done wrong here; she did not fully heed her alpha's command like she was supposed to. She had the intense feeling of shame enveloping her as she waited for her alpha to speak.
"Vera... Dear, dear Vera..." Dragon said now as she finally came over to her and promptly lifted her head up. "You had come so close, so close in fact that you likely would have succeeded in following me all up until I collapsed. I commend you for being able to work up almost to that point, but unfortunately I will not be rewarding you for it."
Vera nodded faintly, but she still kept her head bowed down and ears flat. Well, her alpha wasn't angry at her, but she definitely sounded disappointed, and that made her feel bad.

"But remember, Vera, this is just one tiny little draw back," Dragon continued now. "Even though you were close, and you ended up missing the target, you still succeeded in the rest of it. We just need to increase the length of your attention span a little bit." Dragon grinned faintly before scratching her behind the ears.
Vera lifted her head up a little bit, ears slightly more perky. A small smile crept across her face. Sometimes she forgot just how kind and forgiving her alpha could be in stuff like this.
But then Dragon sighed. "Unfortunately, because I have pretty much reached my limit for today, I think we should carry on tomorrow," she said, yawning a bit. "It's starting to get late, after all."
Vera nodded faintly in understanding. Even though her alpha was superior, she had more limits than the rest of their pack.

~~~ Dragon yawned as she slowly started waking up to the morning sun's rays. Morning already? But... she wanted to sleep a little longer in her nice cozy bed and... Wait. Was that snoring she heard? Dragon's ears pricked up at the sound, part of her wondering why she hadn't awoken to it yet. Then she realized who she was laying on. She blinked now as she stared down at the coarse, yet soft black fur of Vera. Then she looked down toward her head. Vera was sleeping, rather comfortably, with her mouth wide open and most of her tongue laying in the grass next to her. The rest of it was probably blocking her throat a little bit; sometimes that happened while she slept even if it was out the whole way at first. Dragon eventually yawned again. Oh dear lord, she didn't want to do this again, but she had to. She must prevail! (Word Count: 167) (Level: 33 4/5) (Follow: Continued)
"Come on Vera, time to wake up," Dragon said as she climbed up over her side and flopped down onto the soft, grassy ground below. Dragon yawned again as she stood up, stretching out every muscle in her body to get ready for yet another long day ahead.
The rest of Vera's tongue seemed to snake out of her gaping jaws as she too yawned before slowly sitting up and pulling her tongue back into her mouth. Well, that was certainly the first time in forever that she ever slept outside. She should probably do that more often.
"Okay... Maybe sleeping out here wasn't the greatest idea..." Dragon said now. "But whatever. It's all in the past now. Time to get to work so we can go home and crap."
She yawned once more before she turned to Vera, who had just finished stretching out herself. "Okay Vera, let's continue from where we left off."
"Now follow me," Dragon said, not giving Vera any chances to protest or do anything else. As commanded, Vera followed her alpha, more determined than ever to prove to her alpha that she can follow her around even if she gets bored or distracted. She would follow her even by some strange wonder that her alpha ends up lasting longer than she will.
Dragon marched around their section of the Training Meadow with Vera following closely behind. They marched in circles, rectangles, stars, figure eights and many more things. Dragon even marched into other areas of the Meadow to hopefully starve off any distraction, except for hunger, since neither of them ate today.
Then, when the sun was at its highest in the sky, Dragon collapsed in exhaustion, breathing out an exasperated sigh. Vera came up from behind and poked her with a paw, tilting her head a bit. "Okay girl, we're done here..." Dragon said before she forced herself to sit up. "You can obviously keep this up for longer than I. So I officially mark this thing as good as done."
Dragon took out a slab of meat and handed it to Vera, who took it happily. "You're probably going to carry me home or something, because I sure as hell am not going to be standing up after this.
Vera gulped down the slab of meat rather quickly before, without a word, picked up Dragon by the collar of her attire and walked away with her as she hung rather limply from her jaws.
