Just as she looked outside, Vera noticed the little bird-like creature, trudging through the snow on its hind legs, very much not in a bird like fashion, but more like an alpha's fashion. The movement for something so bird like looked suspicious to her, and for a moment, Vera curled her lips up into a warning snarl.
The cat sized creature tilted its head at Vera, as if wondering why she was being so hostile, but then it seemed to back off a bit, but just as it began moving away from the den, Dragon glanced up. "It's alright, Vera..." she whispered. "It's probably seeking shelter from these conditions too...let 'em in.."
Vera stopped snarling now as she moved her head to look at her alpha, before looking back at the critter, who had looked back at them, with an apologetic expression. The critter tilted its head at them before hurriedly coming into the den.

Once inside, the bird like creature shook itself free of any snow and water before moving toward the duo of Fiero and alpha. Dragon looked up now to get a closer look at the creature. "A microraptor..." she whispered to herself. "Wolf told me about these... It is said that they only appear during certain times of the year, and therefore are usually rare..."
The microraptor tilted its head at Dragon before chirping at her, almost as if in response or acknowledgement to what she had just said. Then it nuzzled her, wagging its tail and smiling. Dragon grinned faintly before carefully, and rather slowly, taking out a storage cube and absorbing the microraptor into it.
After she put it away, Dragon yawned and snuggled closer to Vera before she closed her eyes. Vera watched her before she laid her head down beside her.

Before Vera could fall asleep next to her alpha though, Vera's ears pricked up at the sound of howling. It was not the howling of the wind outside, as she at first thought, but the howling of a fellow Fiero. It sounded a bit distant, and unfortunately she was unable to tell from what direction it was coming from, but after listening to it for a few moments, she could already tell who it was.
Dragon's eyes opened again as the sound also hit her ears, although it was a much softer sound for her. Still, she knew her Fieros as well as Vera did. "...It sounds like Blackcloud..." Dragon said now. "She's probably worried about us... and with good reason I'm sure..."
Vera tilted her head in her alpha's direction before she slowly and carefully stood up to walk out into the blizzard again.

Unlike her dear alpha, Vera was much more adept to dealing with harsh conditions such as this. Her heat sensor never appreciated it, but the rest of her she could not care less about. Training her ears to figure out where the howling was coming from, eventually she found it in the direction of their home, and once she had pinpointed that, she focused one the content of the howling.
"Hey, where are you guys? Are you and our alpha somewhere safe? It's a bloody blizzard out here and we're all worried about you because you guys never came home!"
Then Vera breathed in deeply before throwing her head back to let out a responding howl, a deep, harsh sounding one at that.
"We're fine. Alpha isn't doing so well but we've found a place that's out of the way of the elements; don't worry about us, we'll be fine."

As Vera ended her howl and waited for a return reply, she noticed the cat. She could not tell exactly what color it was, or if her alpha already had a pet like that, but she did not want to go sticking her tongue out just to check right now, especially not in this blizzard. Why, her tongue and eye could freeze solid and get damaged or something! Well, perhaps that is a little extreme, but non the less, she was not about to do it.
The little cat was curled up against a tree, shivering, trying as hard as it could to keep warm. Vera flattened her ears at the poor thing as she watched its thermal energy leave its body, a sight that was the only true downfall to her thermal vision.
Keeping an ear out for Blackcloud's reply, Vera slowly came over to the cat.

The cat was either not afraid of the approaching Fiero, or it was just too cold to move, as it only looked up at her, quaking from either the cold, fear, or a hint of both. Vera smiled faintly before she gently picked the cat up in her jaws and came back to the den. She squeezed in for a short moment to deposit the little creature before she began crawling back outside.
Before she went back out all the way though, Dragon, who had almost fallen asleep from exhaustion, looked up to see Vera again, not yet noticing the new addition.
"What is it, Vera?" she asked drowsily. "Does everyone know we're alright?"
Vera shook her head at first, but then she nodded, something that Dragon came to understand as a sort of crude "Not yet". Then she looked over at the little cat who had quietly made its way over to the very back of the den, curled up and shivering.

Dragon turned her head to see what Vera was looking toward, and even though it was sort of hard to make out in the darkness, to which Vera was partially responsible for because she blocked most of the only light that came into the den, she could make out the slight outline of the black cat that was huddled in the back. Its bright golden eyes were what really gave it away.
Even though she already had a cat like this back at home, Sleekstep the messenger, it would do no good just to leave it behind, especially with it as cold as it was. Slowly, Dragon got up and crawled over to it before gently stroking its black fur. The critter purred softly in response, and soon after Dragon took out one of her storage cubes and scooped up the cat into it with a smile.

Vera smiled faintly as she watched, but then one of her ears twitched. She crawled back out the rest of the way into the open again, her ears pricked and twitching to see if she could pick up the sound again. A howl sounded in the direction of home; it was a return reply from Blackcloud.
"You both should likely think about trying to head home as soon as you can," was what Blackcloud had said in the howl. "Who knows when this storm will let up, and if and when another one hits!"
After she had fully processed the howl, Vera threw her head back to get ready for her own returning reply. "Understood. We will try to get home as soon as we can, once this storm has stopped completely."
Vera looked back over toward the den now. She should likely go back to her alpha and rest for the time being.

Or at least, Vera spotted the cat crawling right into the den. Vera let out a harsh sigh, before she grinned faintly. There were certainly a lot of cats around here, she thought to herself. Her alpha was probably pretty happy about that; she always loved having at least one cat with her at all times when she could. Sleekstep would always be the best though; the best messenger, the best snuggle bug, the best sleep mate, you name it.
She watched the entrance to the den for a few more moments before looking around. The blizzard was still has harsh as ever, but except for her poor heat sensor, she did not seem to mind the cold too much. Her fur was thick and black, the fur between her toes well grown for this sort of thing.
She should likely go hunting; food was likely one of the few things she did not see her alpha bring with them.

But then Vera flattened her ears as she realized that, if she were to go hunting now, she would have to leave her alpha alone. This likely would not have been an issue if there was some way for them to communicate over long distances like she could with Blackcloud and the other members of the pack, but since the best her alpha could do was just howl in some weird foreign language, and there was no other way to communicate, leaving right now would be an issue. Not to mention that in her current state, her alpha likely wouldn't be able to survive the cold on her own for too long. She was likely standing out here for long enough as it was.
And then there was the question of what she would hunt. For the entire time she had been in here, the only things she could find were pets; not a single prey animal in sight.

Vera first thought that perhaps the prey animals were hiding from the larger, more cat sized carnivores, but at the same time, that could not be the case since even if they were hiding, she should have been able to see them. Even with this blizzard going on around her, she could still make out the thermal shapes of animals. Perhaps they blended in all too well with the rest of the thermal shapes of the pets?
Vera did not know. For all she knew, the prey could all be underground to escape from both the predators and the blizzard, and if that was the case, then she likely would not be able to get through to them, unless she started digging. Digging through terrain is harder to do than digging through snow, though.
Vera sighed before she went back into the den and curled her body around her alpha, who had fallen asleep. Then she looked outside. Once the blizzard lets up, they can worry about getting home and finding food.

The next morning brought in a serious draft of blinding sun rays, which were mostly blocked and absorbed by Vera's huge black form. Some of them, however, managed to push their way through the open spaces, illuminating the cave in those areas. Subconscious noticing that the cave was no longer dark, Dragon opened her eyes as the unconscious switched to conscious.
Drowsily, Dragon blinked, and then she yawned, baring her lupine teeth as her jaws stretched wide open to take in the surrounding air. As she exhaled she let her head fall back onto her giant fluffy pillow of a Fiero.
Vera lifted her head to look over at her alpha when she noticed her shift around. Her tail wagged a bit as she yipped hoarsely in greeting, baring a toothy grin at her.
Dragon yawned again before she shifted to look over at Vera. "Morning, Vera..." she said with a smile.
