Just like last time, a low growl started in Vera's throat as she eyed the next butterfly she saw flying around. She that thought after the last one she and her alpha would have been done with these flying insects. Apparently they were not done with them, as they still continued to torment her, or so it seemed. Who knows what those cat sized butterflies were thinking? Vera did not seem to care either way.
Under normal circumstances when it came to snowy days such as this one, where the snow still continued to fall, this particular butterfly would have been hard to spot, especially with it's blue and silver colorings only contrasted by the black. Vera, as it is well known already, did not need to see it with her eyes; she could already see its warm body perfectly contrasting with the cold environment.

Dragon sighed now. After the last butterfly not just a few minutes ago, she could already guess just what Vera was growling at. There was not a whole lot out there that she did growl at anyway, especially when it came to Fiero pets. Actually, butterflies so far were probably the only real thing that she ever growled at right now.
"Come on Vera, just ignore it..." Dragon said now as she pressed on; it was probably a good idea to find shelter right about now, at least to wait until the snow was done... It did seem to be getting heavier as they continued on...
Vera did not seem to hear her though, since she kept on growling at where the butterfly was. She wanted to stay alert; she most certainly did not want a repeat of the first time she encountered a butterfly.

Dragon glanced back at Vera to make sure that she was following her, and then she sighed a little more heavily and stopped walking when she saw that Vera was ignoring her in favor of keeping an eye on the butterfly. It looked like she was going to have to be a little more stern here.
"Vera, come," Dragon said sternly now.
Vera momentarily took her heat sensor off the butterfly to look at her alpha, before she flattened her ears and looked back at the butterfly, this time no longer growling. Then she looked back at her alpha before slowly making her way over to her. Once she was close, she looked back up at the butterfly again before she let out a hoarse whine.
Dragon sighed before placing a hand on her muscular neck. "Look, I realize that you don't like butterflies, especially the ones landing on you," she began, "but you must learn that not all of them are going to try to do that, okay?"

Vera bowed her head before nodding slowly. Dragon slowly massaged the back of her neck before hugging her gently. "How about we just forget about that butterfly and go look for someplace to rest, okay?" she said with a faint smile. "Who knows, maybe we might be able to escape the butterflies if we find someplace to stay for the moment?"
Vera looked back up at her and nodded, and Dragon nodded in return. "Okay, then that's settled," she said with a grin. "Let's go."
Just then, however, the big blue butterfly decided that it needed a place to rest, and therefor it landed on top of Dragon's head. Dragon froze, as did Vera who nearly jumped at the sight of the butterfly picking someplace so close to her to land.
But then Dragon sighed, sounding a bit annoyed. "Really?" she said, glancing up at the butterfly in annoyance and taking out the storage cube she used to catch the last one. Holding it up to the butterfly, the storage cube sucked it in, capturing it. "Really?" Dragon repeated, looking down at the cube before putting it away again.
Dragon sighed. "Well, shall we continue?"

One of Vera's ears pricked up at the sound of chirping, and she looked up again to notice, not a butterfly this time, but a bird. Dragon looked up as she noticed Vera looking into that direction, and, very easily, she could make out the gold and black coloring of the bird. "Oh, well what do ya know?" Dragon said with a grin. "It's finally something that isn't a butterfly! Aren't you happy about that Vera?"
Vera looked back at Dragon as she wagged her fluffy tail to and fro, and then she looked back up at the bird. She let out a harsh, yet happy yip at the bird. The bird responded back by looking down at the pair of Fiero and alpha and chirping again and flapping its wings in the snowy breeze.
Without taking her eyes off of the bird, Dragon slowly brought out another storage cube.

The bird watched Dragon as she got the storage cube ready. It tilted its head at her before letting out another series of chirps and flying away.
Dragon flattened her ears a bit before sighing. Well, looked like the bird did not want capturing, or maybe it thought that the cube was a stone or something that she was going to throw at it... God, she most certainly hoped that she did not lead the bird to suspect such... Who knows what could come out of that? As much as some humans did not like to think, there were many birds who had been shown to be quite intelligent and capable of remembering things, and some of those birds can turn aggressive toward those who wish them harm as a result.
Vera frowned at seeing the bird fly away before looking at her alpha with a saddened expression.

Dragon sighed again before looking down, closing her eyes for a moment. Then she looked back at Vera. "I'm sorry Vera..." she said now. "I must have accidentally spooked it." With another sigh, Dragon looked into a random direction, as if looking for something. "Come on, we should probably start finding shelter soon... This snow is starting to lean a little toward the blizzard side..."
Just as she spoke though, chirping could be heard again, and the little gold and black bird from before came back into sight again, but instead of landing in a tree, or even trying to dive bomb them, it decided to land and perch on Vera's back. It shook itself when it landed, ruffling up its feathers and puffing itself up, either as a way to intimidate or just keep warm.
Vera looked back and watched the cat sized bird, but not before Dragon came over and quickly absorbed it into the storage cube.

Vera tilted her head at her alpha; she was enjoying that little moment they were having together, with the bird just sitting on her back and not too unnerved or anything... at least not what she could feel, anyway.
Dragon looked up at Vera before she smiled and stroked her. "Nature can be a cruel and harsh thing," she said. "The poor thing was freezing out here; it would probably appreciate being somewhere warm at least for a little bit." It was a Fiero pet after all... Those usually take well to domestication anyway, so it should not be too much of a hassle, but one never knew sometimes, and if it did decide that it wanted free, she could always set it free once the cold blows over.
"We should probably continue on our way now..." Dragon said now as she put the storage cube away. "I think I might have noticed an old den up ahead before the snow got as thick is it did..."

Vera turned her head toward the cat when she noticed yet another thing streak across her thermal radar. Well, there certainly were a lot of cats around here, or at least so it seemed. Or, perhaps they were just attracted to them.. Who knew with cats?
Dragon glanced back at Vera, once again seeing that she was no longer following her, but instead had her attention turned toward something else. "What is it now, Vera?" Dragon said as she came back to her traveling companion to see whatever it was that had her attention glued to it.
Vera looked at Dragon for a moment before looking back at the cat. Dragon followed her gaze to finally see it too, its black pelt standing out almost perfectly in the snowfall, as heavy as it was getting. Another black-pelted one, it seemed. Those seemed to be one of the more common cat colors here.

Dragon slowly made her way over to the little cat; she could see that the cat had been trying to find shelter from the snow, but it seemed to have given up on the idea, as it was more or less laying limply in the snow now. Dragon got down on her knees, wincing a little as the snow soaked her fur and skin, and then she quickly scooped up the cat and hugged it.
The cat let out a pitiful mew as it felt something warm and comforting after so much cold and snow, and it looked up at Dragon. Dragon smiled back at it. "It's alright, little one..." she said. "I'll take you to someplace nice and warm and away from this weather..."
Slowly standing up without dropping the cat, Dragon took out another storage cube and had the cat sucked into it.

Dragon shivered now; she likely should not have done that, and now her legs were freezing cold. They should likely head to that old cave den thingy now; at least there it should be much warmer than out here.
Vera tilted her head at her alpha before following her as she began moving. She did not look good, that was for sure... They definitely should focus on getting to that shelter, especially now since the snow was starting to come down even harder than before, and the snow was beginning to pile up pretty good too.
Eventually, Dragon collapsed onto her knees into the snow, panting heavily. She wasn't used to being this cold, ever. She had gotten way too used to having her fur coat block out most of the cold, and in this world, it seemed that the amount of fur she had did not matter.

Vera came up from behind her and nudged her, whimpering hoarsely when her alpha did not respond to it readily. Dragon glanced up at Vera before putting a paw on her cheek, but then letting it slip as her energy level continued to drop from trying to stay warm.
Vera whimpered hoarsely again before she picked her alpha up by the collar of her attire and carrying her the rest of the way, with Dragon hanging from her jaws limply.
When they came to the den that Dragon had spotted earlier, it was obvious that it had been snowed over. Vera momentarily put Dragon down and began digging through the snow and effectively burrowing into it to make a path through the snow large enough for the two of them. When she was done, Vera picked Dragon up again and squeezed the both of them into the little den. It was pretty obvious that it was meant for someone a little smaller than Vera, but Vera didn't care. As she settled down into the den, she had her alpha curled up against her, trying to stay warm.
