"Okay, okay, Zephyr..." River began, trying with all her might to get control over herself again. "We need to start taking this seriously now."
Zephyr tried tilting his head at his alpha, but it was rather difficult for him to do without twisting his body a little to be able to move his head. The position started getting uncomfortable though, and eventually he rolled back onto his side, and then he back into relaxed laying position, not the straight, sphinx like position that she wanted him in.
River finally got herself to calm down, clearing her throat and cracking her jaw to finish the laughing fit off finally. "Okay Zephyr," she said now. "I want you to sit."
Zephyr tilted his head up at his alpha before he hoisted himself back up onto his front paws, haunches still sitting on the grass as he now sat.

"Good, good, Zephyr," River said. "Now, lie down again, but don't roll onto either of your sides or on your back. Make it look neat, like you did last time before you rolled over."
Zephyr did as he was told; he lowered his body, stretching his front legs out forward as he eased himself down. For a moment, he made the exact same sphinx position that he had made before, but that was not all he did afterward. Instead of keeping the position like River had wanted, he instead relaxed his back legs, making them push out to the side, and he crossed his front legs like any dog or wolf would when relaxing.
He looked up at his alpha with pricked ears now. He was grinning rather devilishly as his tails wagged back and forth, showing his alpha that he was not quite finished with toying with her.

River let out an exasperated sigh before she facepalmed. "Zephyr..." she moaned. "You're not making this easy for me, you know that, right?" She looked back at him now, her eyes narrowed a bit.
Zephyr simply nodded at her; he still had that playful grin on him, and his tails were still wagging simultaneously. There were just so many ways to interpret that one phrase; he knew which one she meant, but he was having fun with annoying her by exploiting all the different possible ways one could lie down.
River let out another sigh and shook her head before looking at Zephyr. "Alright, are you done yet? I know you want to learn more after this, but we can't do that unless you start being a little more serious. Time's short in a day, ya know?" she said, twitching one of her ears.

Zephyr's grin slowly disappeared at hearing what his alpha had to say. Yes, he very much wanted to learn new things, but at the same time, it couldn't always be serious, right? There should be more fun mixed in with the serious. That's what made it fun, no?
But his alpha did have a point. Even though he had no real concept of time like a human would, he knew days could be very short, in addition to being rather long, depending on what you did. He enjoyed having fun, but time flew when he had fun, and he wanted to know as much as possible in a day before they would have to go home. With a sigh, he sat up in a sitting position now, ready to do what his alpha wanted of him.
River nodded at Zephyr, understanding that he was ready. "Lie down, Zephyr," she said now.

Zephyr lowered himself to the ground, working himself into that sphinx position that his alpha wanted him in, and he held it there.
River grinned faintly at him now. "Good job, Zephyr," she said now. "Now sit."
Zephyr smiled faintly at his alpha before he sat back up, looking up at his alpha. Even though he enjoyed making fun of her, nothing pleased him more than making her happy.
"Now lie down again," River said, still smiling.
Zephyr lied back down in the same position that had been in last time. Despite the fact that it was a bit uncomfortable, it made his alpha happy, and he loved making his alpha happy.
"Great job, Zephyr," River said with a grin. "I think we can bring this trick to a close now. It's clear to me that you've known what you were doing this whole time."
Zephyr grinned at his alpha before barking happily.

"Now, let's see what else we can get out of the way before the day is out," River said now before she consulted her list. "Hm...how about we try--"
Plop.
Something cold and wet dropped onto her head, interrupting what she was going to say, and ultimately making her flinch. She looked up for a moment, before shaking it off and trying to continue.
There was another plop, with a drop of water hitting her right on the tip of her snout. She sneezed, and then suddenly more drops of water began falling from the sky, not only hitting her, but hitting Zephyr too. And on top of it all, there was thunder.
"Crap, of all things, a storm?!" she exclaimed, partially in frustration. She rolled up the list and put it away somewhere safe and dry, just before it really started coming down hard. "Come on Zephyr, we'll finish this another time!" she said before she raced for home, with Zephyr tagging along behind her.
