Wolf felt like she was on top of the world. There was nothing better to her than being in the presence of a Fiero. Absolutely, positively nothing. Especially an adult Fiero, since they could understand her. It was nice to have someone to talk to again, even if he couldn't exactly talk back yet. She would eventually find a remedy to that problem, but not today. Today they had more important things to learn. "Come on Zaal, keep up!" She said, laughing as she ran across the training meadow, toward her favourite spot to train. The Fiero trotted behind her, tongue lolling out, happy that his alpha was happy. It wasn't that long since they had gotten lost in the woods together. Maybe a week or so, and the incident was still fresh in their minds. Right in the forefront of Zaal's mind, however, was somehow becoming strong enough to get his pack members back. Wolf had explained what had happened to him, and he was eager to help in any way possible. She had said that what they were gong to be doing today was going to make him stronger. He was ready. Whatever she had in mind, he would do his best. (204) (3.4 (entry post))

The first thing Wolf had to do though, happened to be her least favourite. She had to... gain his trust wasn't the right wording. Assert her dominance? No, too harsh. She had to teach him a few basic things. She could have likely gotten away with not doing it, but she didn't want to take any chances with him. He was her only Fiero now, and she couldn't bare the thought of somehow losing him.
It wasn't treating him like a dog, she reasoned with herself. More like a kid. Parents had to teach their kids not to wander off, right? Plus this would get him used to following her commands. She always felt a bit weird commanding Fieros, since they were more friends than pets to her. Well, not more. Wolf Rainbowtail would never call a Fiero a pet. She didn't quite know what they were to her. Different than humans, for sure, but different from all the other animals on this planet too.
Rambling on in her mind wasn't going to help though. Three basic tricks. Well... four, although accept contact wasn't really a trick, and then he would be ready to begin really training for battle. The trick training would help too though. Wolf didn't really understand it, but she did know for a fact that being around their alpha, particularly outside of the house, made Fieros stronger.
"Well Zaal, let's get started then."

Zaal tilted his head at his alpha. Get started? What were they working on? And why did Wolf look as though she was warring with herself? He had been around her long enough to realize that look. Instantly every bit of playfulness left him and he went into his serious mood, that he didn't particularly like, but life was a challenge, and you couldn't be happy and wanting to play all the time. Zaal wasn't quite sure how he did it, changed his moods like that. All he knew was that it was usually a good thing that he could.
Even though Wolf had seen him do it before, and was sort of used to it, it always amazed her how quickly Zaal's mood could change. She stared at him for a few seconds, before coming back to herself. She couldn't wander off in thought today, this training was too important for that. "We have to do a few things before I can start teaching you attacks, alright Zaal?" She asked.
Zaal found this strange, but he slowly nodded his head anyways, ready for whatever it was.
"Alright Zaal, I need you to Stay where you are, right now, alright?" She put a bit of emphasis on the word, which made him perk his ears up, wondering what she was trying to do. The instructions confused him a bit. How would staying where he was get him ready to learn attacks? He cast the doubt to the back of his mind though and sat down with a sigh, then lied down and rested his head on his paws, his bright green eyes looking at his alpha, waiting for what would come next.

So far, so good. Zaal was taking this better than likely any of her other Fieros would have. Rainbow would have flipped out at her if she asked her to do something so lowly as stay in one place until Wolf told her it was alright to move again.
Wolf really did hate teaching this. It was the one time where she really felt above a Fiero, although soon she'd be teaching Zaal attacks strong enough to snap her arm bones, so she supposed that compensated a bit. Plus it would be nice to not have him wander off while they were on walks.
Ah crap, that thought had made him sound like a pet. Wolf knew that she hadn't meant it that way, but it still bothered her. "Wow." Came a small voice from beside her left ear as her Liger decided to comment on her thoughts. "I don't even have words for that Wolf. You know what you meant, and I'm going to leave it at that."
The voice of her Liger brought her down from the almost panic that she had been working herself up into. Since her other Fieros, her other friends, family members, almost, had been taken by the dragons, she had been a lot more unstable than she used to be.
Zaal interrupted her from her thoughts. He had gotten up from where she had told him to stay and had bent down to lick at her hand, worried green eyes looking up at her.
