"Well, your sitting's getting better, at least..." Dragon said now, panting from earlier subsiding a bit. She breathed in a deep sigh as she closed her eyes for a moment now, reflecting back on the past, the past life she had with the Fieros back on earth. Transforming had never been so difficult back then; it was only a matter of changing size and losing a few extra toes to go in between. Even if she was in her other form during a transformation, it had felt a crapton more natural.
This feeling of natural was not present though. The magic of this world...had it altered their chemistry so much that they could no longer change as easily as they once were able to, and now had to learn how to get used to the pain, the unsteadiness, and all that? What a pity. Well, they were getting exercise at least, and it was starting to get easier, so that was a plus, right?
Dragon forced herself up again on her feet, legs shaky and still threatening. Then she sat back down shortly afterward. "Hey, I have an idea..." she said now. "How about we turn this into some sort of game? We don't have to go about this in a silent and miserable manner; we can turn it into something a little more fun and enjoyable! It might even make the whole process go faster too."

Wolf tilted her head at the suggestion, and nearly toppled over again in the process before she caught herself. Carefully righting herself again, she turned toward Dragon, being careful to make the necessary little adjustments with her tail and wings to keep herself stable. "Game?" She asked, letting the inflection in her voice carry her sense of excitement rather than wagging her tail which was her natural instinct. "That sounds like a great idea Dragon! Do you have something in mind?"
Her head tilted the other way, and with a small sigh of annoyance, she quickly adjusted her wings to balance herself. The movement was almost coming second nature to her now. Even with this progress which was likely clear to Dragon and anyone else, Wolf still felt like a newborn, or an old Fiero. Something that couldn't move the way the other Fieros did, and clearly wasn't fit for fighting.
Something settled on her nose, a blossom from one of the trees they were sitting under, and she sneezed and reached up with a front paw, batting the thing away, easily staying balanced with the three paws she had on the ground, and not noticing that sitting seemed to be fine now.

Dragon nodded slowly with a smile across her muzzle. "I was thinking of something sort of like a race," she said, flexing out her wings slowly. "Something that would help us strive to do better by competing against each other to see who is the best at what we are doing. Like right now, sitting is becoming second nature to us, and we're starting to grasp at standing up, and are able to do so for a little bit. But I think something along the lines of 'who can stay standing the longest' would be better for that...we can race later when we start walking and running..."
Dragon's voice faded out at that last word as she found herself deep in thought about what they were going to do when it came to games. Then she shook her head for a moment and looked back at Wolf. "Sorry, I was rambling, wasn't I?" she asked now, sounding a bit embarrassed. "I guess a better question would be, did you catch any of that?" She couldn't help but give a nervous chuckle.

(OOC: Crappy post is so crappy.) Wolf had indeed heard it, and a smile spread across her muzzle at the suggestion. "That sounds like a great idea Dragon." She said, letting just the tip of her tail wag and not needing to adjust her position at all with the slight movement. Yes, they were certainly making progress, but still far from racing through the forest.
"It looks like we're getting better already." She continued on, lifting up one front paw and examining her paw pads curiously. Wolf's body shook a bit as she was forced to support her weight on only three legs, but she didn't fall over the way she had been. "A standing contest sounds like a good idea." She confirmed, nodding after she had put the paw back down. The smile hadn't left her face. "Just say when." She said, tensing her muscles and preparing to force herself into a standing position again.

Dragon grinned faintly in return at her friend's response. "Well, that's great to hear that my rambled suggestion didn't fall on deaf ears because of its rambliness.." she said. "Okay, um...Rules, because every game and competition's got to have them to be fair." She flexed her wings slowly again; she was starting to get really tired of having to stay in one position just to stay upright. This would definitely help in stretching tired limbs.
"Okay, so...when I say go, we stand up for however long we can stay up for," she continued. "The first one to fall or have to take a seat or rest loses."
Dragon, noticing how Wolf was tensing up her own muscles, did the same, because even though she was the one to say go, she was going to wait a moment to give Wolf time to react before doing anything, to make it fairer for the both of them.
"Alright, on the count of three...one...two..."
"Three!"
And just as she had promised herself, Dragon waited for a moment or two before struggling to stand once more.

Wolf watched Dragon, her tail twitching as she focused on her friend. She listened to the numbers being called out, but also watched Dragon's muscles, waiting to see when she would stand up, because she suspected it wouldn't be right away. As soon as she saw her paws pushing against the ground, Wolf did the same, pushing up with her back paws, her claws digging furrows in the ground as her legs shook.
It didn't take long to raise herself into a standing position, but she still felt weak. That would pass soon, she told herself, and her silver eyes fluttered closed as she concentrated, trying to transfer all the power in her body to her legs. She blocked out everything besides the will to stay on them. The forest sounds melted away and she just concentrated, gritting her teeth together every time her legs wobbled.
She didn't know how long she stayed up for, likely only a few minutes, but it felt like a lifetime to her. She pushed her body to it's absolute limit, until her legs felt like jello and she was gasping for breath at the effort.
Finally, despite everything she tried, her legs collapsed and she fell. Breathing hard, she finally let the rest of the world come back into focus as she opened her eyes to see how Dragon had done.

Dragon had collapsed as well just a few minutes after standing up, but she had not stayed up for quite as long as Wolf had. She was panting hard, legs and wings feeling like jelly. This...was going to take a lot longer than she had anticipated, it seemed, she thought to herself.
Was this what it felt like to be a newborn pup after the first few weeks of their life? Too small and weak to stand up, and only be able to crawl? That was something humans needed to do as well when they first start out in locomotion. That...actually sounds like a much better starting point than just skipping it.
Dragon glanced over at Wolf, breathing in a few more deep breaths to try and steady her breathing. "Hey Wolf, I think something just occurred to me..." she said now, almost completely forgetting about the game they just finished. "Why don't we try crawling? It might be easier to strengthen our muscles that way instead of collapsing all the time..."
