Fieros are the main adoptables on this site and what the site was named after. At the core, they are giant sentient wolves that need to be around humans in order to survive. Each one starts off as a helpless, cat sized pup, but through roleplay and training, can become pretty much whatever you want. They can be taught to speak, learn telepathy, fly(if they have wings), turn invisible, breathe fire, the possibilities are endless.
Trained Fieros can compete in battles or shows, or, if you're more of a collector type, used to find Fiero pets. You can also simply misc roleplay with them and they can also be bred.
Until they are taught something, Fieros cannot use it in a roleplay of any kind (which includes battles, shows and exploring, as well as misc) It is highly suggested that once you have an adult Fiero, that your first roleplay with it is training. It is useful to think of a Fiero as a large, untrained dog at this point. It does not know how to do anything on command and must be taught it. Fieros can understand human language, but they cannot reply back any more than a dog could until trained to do so.

Other Fiero Types
Tricera *Big, like, elephant sized *Carnivores. Use their horns, front claws and beak to catch prey *Quite quick and surprisingly light on their feet *Very difficult to train to be ridden, they just don't feel the actions of their rider due to their size. Have to be trained to be a mount verbally *Have wolf-like teeth and short fur *Their horns and beak are both quite smooth with sharp tips
Unicorn *Horse sized *Carnivore, wolf teeth, uses horn, sharp front hooves and teeth to hunt *They also kick with their back paws if something startles them. Be careful when teaching them accept contact *Respond well to most kinds of training and make excellent mounts

On the Fiero-Human Bond, and other Things
The relationship between humans and Fieros is a symbiotic one. That is, both sides get something from it. Fieros are naturally drawn to humans mostly because they've been domesticated for generations. There is no Fiero here that does not come from domesticated Fieros, even if it is found in the wild. The only true wild Fieros reside back in the world of Fieros, a place that will never know the presence of a human again.
The Fiero species as we know it cannot survive without humans. A Fiero must be around a human it considers it's alpha before it can grow up and breed and continue the species. A Fiero without an owner, or alpha, if you prefer Fiero terms, is a very unhappy Fiero indeed. Fieros are social creatures, and they cannot have a pack without an alpha, and the only alpha that they will accept is a human.
As well as this, they require the presence of a human to become stronger, as well as to teach them new things. a Fiero on it's own has all the powers of a standard wolf. Humans, however, can teach them to do nearly anything.
It is considered the height of cruelty to try and separate a Fiero from its owner, even if the owner is being abusive to it. A Fiero forced apart from it's owner will do everything in it's power to get back to them.
A Fiero may be transferred to another owner if the previous owner so wishes. They must explain this to their Fiero and introduce them to their new owner.
On the flipside of the connection, a human gains a loyal and loving pet. Fieros make excellent guard dogs, companions, hunters, retrievers, herders, and everything else that dogs can be, as well as some that they can't. Mounts, for instance, or as a replacement for tools if trained properly.
Every human tends to see a Fiero as something different, and a Fiero will usually adapt to fit this role. Some treat them as equals, while others see them as unusually intelligent animals that can be trained to do a variety of different things.
In the end, it is up to the individual to decide what a Fiero is for, although what a human is for is clearly defined for a Fiero.

Stuff Fieros Don't Understand, and never will
* Their name You can, of course, teach a Fiero to respond to their name, but they never register it as their name. It's like if someone decided to call you a number, not quite the same idea since it deals with the same sense, but something like that. They understand that's what you call them, but they really and truly don't understand why. They can understand the word if it's a normal one that means something else, and respond to it. If you teach them to talk and ask them their name, they can tell you it, but their scent is always their name to them.
* Time This is... just to some extent. They understand the setting and rising of the sun and the changing of seasons. If you set an alarm on a watch and tell them to stay still until it goes off, they understand that too. If you ask them how much time went by though, they'll respond with quantity terms. A little, a lot, too much, etc. Minutes and hours mean nothing to them, although most know that a minute is quite short while an hour is quite long.
* Numbers Their brains just aren't wired correctly for it. Anything over one, they start using quantity terms, and they're more likely to use the word single than one as well. This comes more from their evolution than anything. You don't need to know that there's exactly 20 deer, you just need to know that there's enough to feed your entire pack for a few weeks.
* Writing Fieros lack the small motor skills used to write. That and the fact that they can't memorize how a letter looks.
* Reading This has to do more with their eyes than their brain. Fieros are predators. They hunt, thus their eyes are drawn to movement. Lines on a page mean nothing to them, and they can't focus on them long enough to learn what they're supposed to mean.
* Make tools A Fiero can drag a pile of branches together, and if they've been taught how to breathe fire, light it. They can grab a branch in their teeth and poke it down a short tunnel a rabbit's just gone down to try and force it out. They cannot tie things together or cut wood with their paws into a spear. This is, again, because of the small motor skills they lack. A Fiero's paws are for walking on, not trying to do stuff with. Mouths can be used to carry things, but that's about it.
* Paint, draw, etc. (anything recognizable at least) If you give a Fiero a pencil to hold in their mouth, granted they didn't snap it, they could likely put it to a piece of paper and scribble with it. You could tell them to walk in paint, or squeeze a blob out and let them roll around in it (good luck getting that out of their fur). They would not be able to draw a tree or a bird or anything of the like. Again, fine motor skills, and the whole not being able to stare at something not moving or alive for a long amount of time.
* Play a musical instrument I suppose you could get a Fiero to whack a drum with their tail, but that's pretty much the extent of it XD They can sing though.
Put quite simply, a Fiero's strength does not lie in things like this. They can use a paw to whack a rabbit in just the right way to break its neck, or jump over a river, but when it comes to small, precise movements, they just can't do it. There was never any need for it in the wild. Their eyes, likewise. They can sit for hours watching and waiting for a deer herd to pass by, their senses sharp for any movement, but they can't stare at the words in a book long enough to make any sort of sense of them. Time and numbers is more because of how their brain works. The concept of numbers and specific amounts of time are very human concepts, very abstract and odd to a Fiero.
