The Fiero followed her easily, just as she had as a pup. Of course, she didn't follow as well as if she had been trained to do it, often straying off to look at this or that, but always coming back. Wolf was confident that she didn't have to worry about her. They were out here for a rather interesting reason. Someone by the name of Yarrow had requested help with getting their pup to grow. Wolf wasn't quite sure what kind of problem they were having with it, but being a helpful sort of type, she had agreed, and well, here she was, at the meeting place. She had decided to bring Calamity along simply because it had seemed like a good idea at the time. Having a grown Fiero there might help Yarrow to see that she knew what she was doing. Or Yarrow could see it as her just showing off and being rude, the thought had come to Wolf only now, and she hoped that wouldn't be the case. Well, whoever this Yarrow person was, Wolf was going to find out soon. She was a few minutes earlier than what the letter had asked, but they should show up shortly, hopefully with the pup in question with them. (Cala Level: 2.4) (Words: 212)

He was nervous. Not because he thought this Wolf girl wouldn't be of any help (she discovered this place, after all), but because he had never met her before. He didn't like meeting new people, thinking they would judge him, but he needed help with the pup. All he had done was sent a letter, and Wolf agreed to come, so he assumed she was nice enough. Laurel didn't misbehave too much, it just he didn't really know how to grow her up. He was new to this, after all. The pup seemed to like him well enough, and was happy to follow him wherever he went. The pup trailed after him, pouncing at his heels then running away. He was getting close to the meeting spot. In fact... Was that her? If it wasn't it was someone with a fiero. Even if it wasn't Wolf, maybe they could be of some help. Yarrow went down the hill, Laurel not far behind. "Hi?" he called out. "You're Wolf, Right?" 1.0 (169 words)

She heard the voice and turned, then had to spend a moment not freaking out and scaring Yarrow off. He was insanely tall, well, at least to her, then again, she was really short. Actually, he looked a lot like the guy she had met on the first day here, the one she had mistook for a monster, but he had turned out alright. Maybe they were related? Brothers or something? Or maybe this world just had strange ideas about what people truly were.
Well, whatever it was, Wolf got over her initial desire to run away screaming from him with her tail tucked between her legs, and hoped that he hadn't noticed the surprise or fear that had likely appeared on her face, or had thought it was because of something else than it actually was.
She put on a smile and extended her hand. "Yep, I'm Wolf, and this girl here is Calamity. You must be Yarrow right?" She noticed the pup behind him, judging quickly that it was a female. She had been around Fieros long enough to know the genders just by looking at the faces. "And this here must be your little trouble maker. What can I help you with?"
Cala, for her part, dipped her head in greeting, first at the human, and then at the pup. She wasn't really here for any specific reason, but she might as well be polite to them.

Yarrow smiled and waved when the girl turned. Something flashed on her face for a split second, but he couldn't quite figure out what it was. He assumed it was his general looks, but it didn't bother him since she seemed to get over it pretty quick.
Yarrow approached her, and shook her hand. "Yeah, I am. Nice to meet you." Well, she seemed nice. "She's not too bad, really. I'm just not sure how to grow her and all. It looks like you have some experience with that," he said, gesturing to Calamity. "So I thought i'd ask you." He smiled at the larger fiero, who seemed polite herself.
Meanwhile, Laurel was focused on the other fiero. She was bigger than she was, but looked the same. She had never really gotten a close look at another fiero, and she was excited to do so. Laurel ran up to the other fiero, wagging her tail furiously. She wanted to play, most of all. She was just a pup still, and didn't know how to act otherwise.

Wolf nodded at the explanation. It made sense that people new to this world hadn't quite figured out some of how it worked. He seemed to be taking to it quite well though, she had remembered the day when the tail had sprouted on her, it had taken her months to get used to the thing, and the giant wolves!
"Growing a Fiero is quite easy, actually." She started off, laying a hand on Cala's shoulder as she talked. "Fieros, and no one knows why, seem to... gain energy, become stronger, by being around their owner. When they're a pup, only their own owner will do, but once they grow, like Cala here, being around anyone who owns Fieros, or even a Fiero owned by someone, will have the same effect." She smiled. "In short, all you have to do to have a Fiero grow is interact with it. Most choose playing with them as though they were just a normal puppy, as it makes more sense to them, while others choose to just sit somewhere quiet with them and pet them. Others still, I know my friend did this one, simply let them play with another Fiero, but stay close by. It's weird, and hard to get used to at first, and it wasn't always like that, but that's the way it is, and no one seems too interested in questioning it deeper. Just... don't let your Fiero inside the night when you think they're going to grow, they do it all at once, and a horse sized wolf breaking your bed in the middle of the night isn't what you want."
She gave a small laugh, then turned back to Calamity. "Once a Fiero is an adult, not only can they understand your speech, but can be taught insane things, like how to breathe fire, or talk back to you. I haven't really done any work with Cala yet, but I plan on training her up to take place in the battles. Anything special you have planned for Laurel once she grows?"
Wolf had absolutely no idea why she was keeping the conversation going. Likely because it was on a subject that she knew, and if they stopped talking, she would likely just stand there awkwardly and freak him out. Sometimes she really hated that she was so shy. Hopefully he had understood what she was talking about though.

Yarrow listened to what Wolf had to say. He nodded as she continued. Seemed pretty straightforward.. "Alright." he replied. "Makes sense to me. Its pretty nice how they can just go from one stage to another. I just kinda wish they didn't get as big as horses." Yarrow chuckled and smiled.
"I'm not too sure." he said, thinking a moment. "Maybe i'll try to get her in to some shows, if she wants to." He looked to Laurel, who was wagging her tail happily at Calamity. A question popped into his head, and he turned back to Wolf. "How do you think they can understand what you're saying when they're grown?"
Laurel yipped at the larger fiero, getting into a play stance. Hopefully Calamity would want to run around and play with her. She hadn't got too much time around other fieros, and figured this was a good chance. Cala still seemed rather young, so hopefully she would still have a playful streak in her.

"Yeah, it's certainly an interesting way of growing." She agreed, and then tilted her head at his next remark, as though it meant something deeper than what he had meant it as. "You know, they did used to be different sizes." She said. "Anywhere from fitting in your hand to bigger than a house. I'm not quite sure why they seem to all be the same size now. Maybe someday there'll be size variations again?"
His next question certainly caught her off guard. "I never really thought of that." She confessed. "It was just something I took for granted I guess. My best guess would be that it's just to do with the magic of them, something they can instinctively do but we can't, which is more than a little odd since Fieros don't really communicate among themselves using sounds." Her head tilted still further as she considered the question more.
Indeed, Cala was quite young, having only became an adult a few days ago. She was an interesting Fiero, very polite and reserved while conversations were going on, even if she wasn't a part of them, but also very competitive and free spirited if given the chance. She gave a quick glance at Wolf, decided that she wouldn't mind if she played with the pup, and then crouched down for a fraction of a second before springing up and running a little ways away, inviting Laurel to try and catch her.

Yarrow tilted his head. "Really?" he tried to imagine a fiero as small as an ant, and failed to do so. "Wow. That sounds awesome." He grinned. "If you find a fiero thats some kind of weird size, I want to see it."
"Maybe since they don't use sound, they can communicate telepathically?" Yarrow giggled a little at the thought of it. He wasn't used to a world where something like that might actually be true. He shrugged. "I don't know. I think i'll be happy that Laurel will be able to understand me, though. Maybe she'll actually listen to me when I tell her to get off the couch, then."
Laurel jumped back at how fast Cala moved. Within seconds, though, she was after her, making bounding leaps towards her. Laurel yipped and stopped a few feet away from her, getting back into a playful stance, then she leapt up and bounded after Calamity.

"Yep." She said, relaxing now. "And not only different sizes, but different types. Dragons and dogs... even snails! Those were really weird. Maybe one day they'll be back too..." She trailed off in thought, her mind on a different time, then came abruptly back to the present when she encountered something that she had been trying her best to forget.
She was glad for the distraction of the conversation to take her mind off of what she had remembered. "Telepathy... I don't think so. I mean, I know that they can learn to communicate telepathically with their owner, but I think they use body language more than anything to communicate with each other."
Calamity grinned the way dogs and wolves do, mouth open, tongue hanging out, and eyes bright, then she bounded a little bit further away. She wasn't moving as fast as she could, of course. Though she was competitive, she realized that Laurel was a pup, and not nearly as fast or strong or even coordinated as she was. It wouldn't have been fun for the pup if she made it impossible to catch her, so she stayed close, just out of the reach of the other Common Fiero.

"Snails?" Yarrow giggled a bit. "That does sound weird. Must've been interesting, at least." he said, nodding a bit. "How else was it different?" He asked, titling his head a bit. He shuffled and looked over to Laurel, who seemed to be enjoying herself. He looked back once Wolf started talking again.
"Oh, I see." he replied. "Do you have to train them how to use telepathy, or is it just something they can learn over time? It seems like it'd be rather difficult to train." Yarrow trailed off a bit. He looked around for a second, moved a few feet away, and sat down, grinning back up at Wolf.
Laurel mimicked the other fieros pose, tongue lolling out of her mouth, tail wagging. The pup jumped after her, batting at the others heels. She suddenly darted away from Calamity, nearly tripping over her own paws. The pup flopped on her side and rolled around in the grass.

Wolf tapped her chin thoughtfully as she remembered back to how the Fieros had been before. "There were a lot of differences." She began. "For one, Fieros didn't need to be taught how to talk. They could all do it, although some of them chose not to. Telepathy, too, came naturally to them. They also didn't need the deer to breed, and their litters were much larger."
Yes, it had been better for the Fieros when they had been in their own world, but this had been the best that Wolf could find for them, and they seemed to be doing alright, so far.
"The Ligers were still there though." She said, continuing on, and reaching up into her hair, behind her left ear, as she talked. She caught ahold of something small and white with brown stripes, then brought it down. It grew as she did so, until a Liger about the size of a hamster sat in her palm, looking up at Yarrow curiously. "Kayne here's been with me since Ligers were first discovered." She said, and the creature hopped to the ground, becoming the size of a cat mid-leap.
Calamity ran a few more steps, before seeing that the pup had given up the game. Curiously, Cala watched Laurel for a few seconds, before deciding that what she was doing looked like fun. She flopped down a short distance away too and rolled, staining her white fur green.

The Liger immediately turned to look at Wolf. "You know, you forgot that you were meeting Kyrarea today to talk about Haku and Sweetheart." he said, then gave a shrug and a yawn. "You were supposed to be at her storage five minutes ago." The Liger didn't seem bothered by this at all, and his teal eyes watched the Fieros playing.
"Oh crap!" Wolf said, smacking the palm of her hand to her forehead. "I completely forgot! Yarrow, I'm sorry, but I have to leave. You should be alright with Laurel now. Just play with her, talk to her, brush her, things like that."
Calamity's ears had swiveled around at the sound of Wolf's hand, and she stopped mid-roll to stare at her Alpha. "We have to go Cala, sorry about that." She said to the Fiero. "I forgot something important that I have to do. You can play with Laurel some other time though, alright?"
Cala gave a short whine, evidently not happy with this, but she got to her feet, gave her coat a good shake, and then trotted over to Wolf's side.
Kayne shrank again, back down to a size that was difficult to see, and floated up to the top of Wolf's head, where he landed and curled up, going to sleep now that what he had to say was over.
"Sorry!" Wolf called out again, as she began to walk quickly away, hoping Kyrarea wouldn't be too angry at her for being late.
