(...PAY NO ATTENTION TO THAT TITLE KAY THNX~) 'She'll never catch me~' might have been exactly what the small brown pup was thinking as she skittered through the bushes of the small forest. She froze suddenly, flicking her ears. Was that her now? No-she spotted a squirrel in the tufts of a tree nearby, chattering away. She stared and then let out a huff, frowning at it in disapproval. Didn't it know she was /trying/ to hide here? Surely it could go along it's business without making so much noise-! Aisling was currently experiencing an annoyance of her very own. Her nine tails flicked vigorously and her wings flapped unconsciously in some fluster. This pup-she couldn't believe her nerve, just running off like a maniac-or if her bum had caught fire, as an old friend of hers would most likely say. Since the pup had come to live with her it became increasingly clear that that Palame was nothing like Embarr, her first fiero. (157) (Level 1)

Whenever she thought of that snapshot, his soft pink eyes transformed a gruesome red her heart dropped. The feeling when she first realized that Embarr had been taken, trapped in his own body being possessed by a dragon, she felt betrayal. This was her new life, her new beginning in this new place-her new partner guiding her through the novelties of this world, discovering together. However the other day when she found a small pup shivering in the cold she felt hopeful. That girl-Wolf, she had told her and others to train other fieros to help save Embarr and the other possessed fieros.
Now though she felt doubt as she searched for the rogue pup. She lifted the whistle from it's lax position around her neck and blew it again, though she was sure Palame wouldn't heed it. 'Playing is one thing, this is just disobedience-!'
Palame's body gave a jump with the familiar high-pitched noise. Her mentor! She sounded close by too. She had to keep the game up.

She lowered herself down, her belly fur almost brushing the ground, scooting away carefully as to not make a sound. Unfortunately her intent attempt would soon be thwarted.
She glanced behind herself to check for the human but got an angry hiss in return. She whipped her head the entire way around and stared. A thin, lanky cat stared back, almost as large as she was. For a moment the two creatures were stuck in a stare-off. The cat's tail lashed behind him and suddenly Palame scoffed. What in the good world was she doing, being afraid of a cat? One day she'd be much bigger then this cat; any cat for that matter. Just as she saw him begin to lift his paw to strike her, she erupted into what she thought was a ferocious roar.
Aisling heard this roar, more like super-charged yelping then anything and darted forward, a feeling of worry rising.

However it was quickly shadowed over again as she found her recently acquired charge, barking at nothing. She stalked forward and scooped the pup up off the clovers. She looked up at her, seeming surprised looking like a child caught with their hand in the cookie jar. She would definitely need to teach her to stop running off, but how? Almost instantly her mind dived back into her memories of watching animal documentaries-she had been playing with the idea of becoming a veterinarian which seemed a nice unique choice when she was younger. Most of all she focused on the disciplinary method of most canines and felines. Hoping she was right in her assumption, she let one hand move up, grabbing the loose skin and shaking the small fiero by the scruff of her neck carefully. She held her up to be almost eye to eye with her, giving a throaty growl in obvious disapproval.

Palame flailed her limbs as she was lifted then stared at her in a shocked way, recognizing these gestures from some long time ago from paternal figures. Had she made her angry? Oh no, oh no, she hadn't meant to-! She just wanted to play...sometimes she seemed so sad and she just wanted to have some fun with her. Her tail twitched anxiously and tucked between her back legs, against her belly. What if she'd just get rid of her, toss her to the curb? She didn't want to be alone again. She would take punishment as long as she didn't end up alone again...
Aisling blinked at her as with an apologetic whimper, the pup reached her muzzle out toward her. A second later she felt Palame's tongue softly brush her right cheek, the one that was deformed on the surface. She sighed gently, instantly melting at this display and let go, holding her tightly to her chest. She felt terrible all at once.

Palame nestled against her chest, feeling the sleek fabric of her blouse. She looked up at her shortly after, tilting her head. Had she been forgiven-Why was her mentor so still now...? She whined, gently batting her paw at her shoulder.
She sighed, looking down at her, recognizing the concern. She knew that at the core of this whole fiasco she had been worried that something else would get to the small pup before she would. However she couldn't shake off what her thoughts had been going through more so then that. She had been so focused on getting Embarr back she had been pinning all her hopes on this young fiero's shoulders. Instead of wishing that she was more like Embarr she should have celebrated the differences. Oh, how badly she wanted to tell her all this, to say that she was sorry! She did what she could do though; tousled her soft ears with a smile crossing her cheeks and holding her more tightly.

Palame smiled too, letting out a bark of satisfaction. She looked happier! She nuzzled into her more, enjoying the feeling. Suddenly getting the urge, she squirmed from her grasp, jumping down as gracefully as she could. She bounced forward, her tail wagging eagerly before she looked back at Aisling in a 'Are ya coming?!' way.
She chuckled mentally before she followed after her. Yes, they were definitely different and she had a sneaking suspicion she would not change all that much as she grew older. Aisling didn't have too much of a problem with that really. They could work through them together. She looked around feeling better about things now as she thought about something she'd heard. Someone had gotten their fiero so strong that she'd already taken on and recovered one fiero. She would have to get cracking with Palame on that-how little she knew so far on how she would train her regardless.

The small fiero bounced forward, her tail flicking in a way as if she was a joyous child skipping along with their parents. Soon she became bored with just walking toward their home. She huffed lightly before she jumped back a butterfly crossing the air in front of her. It was small and fluttery, it's wings almost as thin and translucent as that stuff that Aisling stared at so intently in the evenings-what was it called..She wasn't sure but it smelled like trees very faintly. Her blue eyes kept wide as she watched the butter-tinted wings as the insect did a series of aerobatics in front of her.
The human stopped as she stopped and watched, stifling a small laugh. She looked so amazed at the simple insect-pretty though it was. Aisling remembered experiencing this feeling herself as she tried to catch fireflies on summer nights in the yard of her family's house.

Her tails wagged lightly in the breeze that almost threatened knocking the tiny creature off it's course. Soon the butterfly raised itself higher into the sky and Palame seemed to realize her newly found friend was disappearing. She let out a whine and raised up on her back haunches, bouncing up and down as she tried to call it back.
She continued to whimper toward it before it got so far away that it was no longer visible. Palame dropped back down to the ground, huffing out a sigh. Obviously it didn't want to play. Maybe its' friends were calling him-or her. Whatever, there really was no way to tell she knew, maybe only the butterfly itself knew. She yawned with this thought, plopping down on her rump. Her tiredness had caught up with her from the earlier scurrying about and trying to evade her mentor. Yep, no denying it. She was tired-pretty darned tired.

The girl could read the pup's body language very well. She, herself felt fairly tired, the sun beating down on them and making her feel sleepy. She yawned quietly and walked over, scooping the brown-patterned pup up gently. She felt her head rest on her shoulder and huff softly. 'Yeah you said it...' She rubbed Palame's back lightly as she started off toward the house again.
Once she got there, she fumbled to open the door without waking up the now peacefully dozing Palame. She did manage this task, scooting in and nudging the door shut with her foot. She knew it was still daylight, maybe evening outside but she was definatly ready to join the pup in dreamland. She went to the 'dog-cradle' she had set up for her with a blanket and towels and started to put the pup down but froze. In her sleep she whined and she thought she had gotten too comfy nestled in her arms. She sighed but smiled. She could work with that. And that's how she ended up falling asleep in her bed with the pup nestled against her and the covers.
